Yusuf Ali

(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,

Deutsch

Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,

Shakir

He frowned and turned (his) back,

Yusuf Ali

Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).

Deutsch

weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.

Shakir

Because there came to him the blind man.

Yusuf Ali

But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? -

Deutsch

Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich

Shakir

And what would make you know that he would purify himself,

Yusuf Ali

Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?

Deutsch

Shakir

Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?

Yusuf Ali

As to one who regards Himself as self - sufficient,

Deutsch

Shakir

As for him who considers himself free from need (of you),

Yusuf Ali

To him dost thou attend;

Deutsch

so widmest du dich ihm,

Shakir

To him do you address yourself.

Yusuf Ali

Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).

Deutsch

Shakir

And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself

Yusuf Ali

But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,

Deutsch

Shakir

And as to him who comes to you striving hard,

Yusuf Ali

And with fear (in his heart),

Deutsch

und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,

Shakir

And he fears,

Yusuf Ali

Of him wast thou unmindful.

Deutsch

von dem läßt du dich ablenken.

Shakir

From him will you divert yourself.

Yusuf Ali

By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:

Deutsch

Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.

Shakir

Nay! surely it is an admonishment.

Yusuf Ali

Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.

Deutsch

Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.

Shakir

So let him who pleases mind it.

Yusuf Ali

(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,

Deutsch

(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,

Shakir

In honored books,

Yusuf Ali

Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,

Deutsch

erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,

Shakir

Exalted, purified,

Yusuf Ali

(Written) by the hands of scribes -

Deutsch

durch die Hände von Entsandten,

Shakir

In the hands of scribes

Yusuf Ali

Honourable and Pious and Just.

Deutsch

edlen, frommen.

Shakir

Noble, virtuous.

Yusuf Ali

Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;

Deutsch

Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!

Shakir

Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he!

Yusuf Ali

From what stuff hath He created him?

Deutsch

Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?

Shakir

Of what thing did He create him?

Yusuf Ali

From a sperm - drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;

Deutsch

Shakir

Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure,

Yusuf Ali

Then doth He make His path smooth for him;

Deutsch

Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.

Shakir

Then (as for) the way - - He has made it easy (for him)

Yusuf Ali

Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;

Deutsch

Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.

Shakir

Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,

Yusuf Ali

Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).

Deutsch

Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.

Shakir

Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.

Yusuf Ali

By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.

Deutsch

Keineswegs!

Shakir

Nay; but he has not done what He bade him.

Yusuf Ali

Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):

Deutsch

Shakir

Then let man look to his food,

Yusuf Ali

For that We pour forth water in abundance,

Deutsch

Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,

Shakir

That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance,

Yusuf Ali

And We split the earth in fragments,

Deutsch

Shakir

Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder,

Yusuf Ali

And produce therein corn,

Deutsch

und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen

Shakir

Then We cause to grow therein the grain,

Yusuf Ali

And Grapes and nutritious plants,

Deutsch

und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug

Shakir

And grapes and clover,

Yusuf Ali

And Olives and Dates,

Deutsch

und Ölbäume und Palmen

Shakir

And the olive and the palm,

Yusuf Ali

And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,

Deutsch

und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen

Shakir

And thick gardens,

Yusuf Ali

And fruits and fodder, -

Deutsch

und Früchte und Futter,

Shakir

And fruits and herbage

Yusuf Ali

For use and convenience to you and your cattle.

Deutsch

Shakir

A provision for you and for your cattle.

Yusuf Ali

At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise, -

Deutsch

Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,

Shakir

But when the deafening cry comes,

Yusuf Ali

That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,

Deutsch

Shakir

The day on which a man shall fly from his brother,

Yusuf Ali

And from his mother and his father,

Deutsch

und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater

Shakir

And his mother and his father,

Yusuf Ali

And from his wife and his children.

Deutsch

und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen

Shakir

And his spouse and his son - -

Yusuf Ali

Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.

Deutsch

Shakir

Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him.

Yusuf Ali

Some faces that Day will be beaming,

Deutsch

Shakir

(Many) faces on that day shall be bright,

Yusuf Ali

Laughing, rejoicing.

Deutsch

lachen und sich freuen.

Shakir

Laughing, joyous.

Yusuf Ali

And other faces that Day will be dust - stained,

Deutsch

Shakir

And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust,

Yusuf Ali

Blackness will cover them:

Deutsch

und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.

Shakir

Darkness shall cover them.

Yusuf Ali

Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.

Deutsch

Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.

Shakir

These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked.
