Chapter 80, 42 verses
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
Er blickte düster und kehrte sich ab,
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) frowned and turned away.
Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
weil der Blinde zu ihm kam.
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? -
Was läßt dich wissen, vielleicht läutert er sich
And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)?
Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him?
As to one who regards Himself as self - sufficient,
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
To him dost thou attend;
so widmest du dich ihm,
To him you attend;
Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief: you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).
But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
But as to him who came to you running,
And with fear (in his heart),
und dabei gottesfürchtig ist,
And is afraid (of Allah and His punishment).
Of him wast thou unmindful.
von dem läßt du dich ablenken.
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,
By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
Keineswegs! Gewiß, es ist eine Erinnerung.
Nay, (do not do like this); indeed it (this Qur'an) is an admonition.
Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
Wer nun will, gedenkt seiner.
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
(Er steht) auf in Ehren gehaltenen Blättern,
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz),
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
erhöhten und rein gehaltenen,
Exalted (in dignity), purified,
(Written) by the hands of scribes -
durch die Hände von Entsandten,
In the hands of scribes (angels).
Honourable and Pious and Just.
edlen, frommen.
Honourable and obedient.
Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;
Tod dem Menschen, wie undankbar er ist!
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!
From what stuff hath He created him?
Woraus hat Er ihn erschaffen?
From what thing did He create him?
From a sperm - drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him and then set him in due proportion.
Then doth He make His path smooth for him;
Den Weg hierauf macht Er ihm leicht.
Then He makes the Path easy for him.
Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;
Hierauf läßt Er ihn sterben und bringt ihn dann ins Grab.
Then He causes him to die and puts him in his grave.
Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
Hierauf, wenn Er will, läßt Er ihn auferstehen.
Then when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).
By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.
Keineswegs!
Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.
Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):
So schaue der Mensch doch auf seine Nahrung:
Then let man look at his food:
For that We pour forth water in abundance,
Wir gießen ja Güsse von Wasser,
We pour forth water in abundance.
And We split the earth in fragments,
And We split the earth in clefts.
And produce therein corn,
und lassen dann auf ihr Korn wachsen
And We cause therein the grain to grow,
And Grapes and nutritious plants,
und Rebstöcke und Grünzeug
And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),
And Olives and Dates,
und Ölbäume und Palmen
And olives and date-palms,
And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,
und Gärten mit dicken Bäumen
And gardens dense with many trees,
And fruits and fodder, -
und Früchte und Futter,
And fruits and herbage
For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise, -
Wenn dann der betäubende (Schrei) kommt,
Then when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the second blowing of the Trumpet on the Day of Resurrection)
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,
And from his mother and his father,
und seiner Mutter und seinem Vater
And from his mother and his father,
And from his wife and his children.
und seiner Gefährtin und seinen Söhnen
And from his wife and his children.
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
Everyman that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.
Some faces that Day will be beaming,
Some faces that Day will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism),
Laughing, rejoicing.
lachen und sich freuen.
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).
And other faces that Day will be dust - stained,
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained.
Blackness will cover them:
und sie werden von Dunkelheit bedeckt sein.
Darkness will cover them.
Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
Das sind die Ungläubigen und Sittenlosen.
Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).
