Chapter 88, 26 verses
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?
কিয়ামতের সংবাদ কি তোমার কাছে এসেছে?
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity?
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ
Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,
সেদিন অনেক চেহারা হবে অবনত।
(Some) faces on that day shall be downcast,
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ
Labouring (hard), weary, -
কর্মক্লান্ত, পরিশ্রান্ত।
Laboring, toiling,
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
The while they enter the Blazing Fire, -
তারা প্রবেশ করবে জ্বলন্ত আগুনে।
Entering into burning fire,
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,
তাদের পান করানো হবে ফুটন্ত ঝর্ণা থেকে।
Made to drink from a boiling spring.
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ
No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari'
তাদের জন্য কাঁটাবিশিষ্ট গুল্ম ছাড়া কোন খাদ্য থাকবে না।
They shall have no food but of thorns,
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.
তা মোটা-তাজাও করবে না এবং ক্ষুধাও নিবারণ করবে না।
Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger.
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ
(Other) faces that Day will be joyful,
সেদিন অনেক চেহারা হবে লাবণ্যময়।
(Other) faces on that day shall be happy,
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
Pleased with their striving, -
তাদের প্রচেষ্টায় পরিতৃপ্ত,
Well - pleased because of their striving,
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
In a Garden on high,
সুউচ্চ জান্নাতে।
In a lofty garden,
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:
সেখানে তারা শুনবে না কোন অসার বাক্য।
Wherein you shall not hear vain talk.
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةً
Therein will be a bubbling spring:
সেখানে থাকবে প্রবাহমান ঝর্ণাধারা,
Therein is a fountain flowing,
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,
সেখানে থাকবে সুউচ্চ আসনসমূহ।
Therein are thrones raised high,
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
Goblets placed (ready),
আর প্রস্তুত পানপাত্রসমূহ।
And drinking - cups ready placed,
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
And cushions set in rows,
আর সারি সারি বালিশসমূহ।
And cushions set in a row,
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
And rich carpets (all) spread out.
আর বিস্তৃত বিছানো কার্পেটরাজি।
And carpets spread out.
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made? -
তবে কি তারা উটের প্রতি দৃষ্টিপাত করে না, কীভাবে তা সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে?
Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created?
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
And at the Sky, how it is raised high? -
আর আকাশের দিকে, কীভাবে তা ঊর্ধ্বে স্থাপন করা হয়েছে?
And the heaven, how it is reared aloft,
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm? -
আর পর্বতমালার দিকে, কীভাবে তা স্থাপন করা হয়েছে?
And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed,
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
And at the Earth, how it is spread out?
আর যমীনের দিকে, কীভাবে তা বিস্তৃত করা হয়েছে?
And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse?
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.
অতএব তুমি উপদেশ দাও, তুমি তো একজন উপদেশদাতা মাত্র।
Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder.
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.
তুমি তাদের উপর শক্তি প্রয়োগকারী নও।
You are not a watcher over them;
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
But if any turn away and reject Allah, -
তবে যে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয় এবং করে,
But whoever turns back and disbelieves,
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,
ফলে তাকে কঠোর আযাব দেবেন।
Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement.
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ
For to Us will be their return;
নিশ্চয় আমারই নিকট তাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন।
Surely to Us is their turning back,
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ
Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
তারপর নিশ্চয় তাদের হিসাব-নিকাশ আমারই দায়িত্বে।
Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
