Shakir

1 Have We not expanded for you your breast,

Yusuf Ali

1 Have We not expanded thee thy breast? -

Shakir

2 And taken off from you your burden,

Yusuf Ali

2 And removed from thee thy burden

Shakir

3 Which pressed heavily upon your back,

Yusuf Ali

3 The which did gall thy back? -

Shakir

4 And exalted for you your esteem?

Yusuf Ali

4 And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?

Shakir

5 Surely with difficulty is ease.

Yusuf Ali

5 So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:

Shakir

6 With difficulty is surely ease.

Yusuf Ali

6 Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.

Shakir

7 So when you are free, nominate.

Yusuf Ali

7 Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard,

Shakir

8 And make your Lord your exclusive object.

Yusuf Ali

8 And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention.
